REA Technologies successfully developed a large-scale rooftop distributed PV system for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals (China) Co., Ltd. across their NP and SP roof surfaces. This project demonstrates how high-output renewable energy can be integrated into specialized manufacturing environments.
Objective
The project aimed to switch the facility to renewable energy using rooftop space, reducing carbon emissions and stabilizing energy costs while ensuring reliable pharmaceutical production.
Technical Solution
To meet the facility’s significant power demands, we engineered a high-capacity solar array with a total installed capacity of 1,752.52 kWp
Performance and Environmental Impact
The project is designed for decades of high-performance energy generation, providing a significant return on both environmental and financial investment.
Conclusion
By transitioning to a reliable, multi-energy hybrid model , AstraZeneca is effectively insulating its operations from fossil fuel volatility and moving closer to a self-sufficient, net-zero future.
Objective
Replace high dependency on costly and polluting diesel generators with a reliable, renewable, multi-energy hybrid system to ensure 24/7 power supply and achieve significant carbon emission reduction.
Challenge
The client’s operations, critical for maintaining climate control in modern poultry houses, relied almost entirely on diesel gensets for electricity. This resulted in high operating costs, exposure to fuel price volatility, significant maintenance requirements, and a large carbon footprint. The goal was to transition the power source to renewable energy while maintaining the highest level of energy reliability.
Technical Solution
REA Technologies designed and deployed a customized, multi-energy power system incorporating solar PV and battery energy storage as the primary power sources, with the existing diesel generators retained solely for backup use.
The system is designed to provide complete day-to-day energy needs for both poultry farm sites, achieving ~1,500 kWh of clean energy generation per day. This enables the farm to operate entirely off-grid using renewables, drastically reducing the run-time of the diesel generators.
Conclusion
The REA Technologies off-grid solution enables the client to reduce thier carbon footprint by ~410 metric tons annually and self sufficient from fossil fuel.
